 The Man Who Was A  Hospital Written by Jerome K. Jerome summary  . 


This is a humorous story written by Jerome K. Jerome . He tells us that once he read by chance a patent liver - pill circular . In that circulr , the symptoms of a liver disease were written . After reading the symptoms he came to the conclusion that his liver was also out of order . 



 Once the author went to the reading room of a British Museum in order to get information about the treatment of hay fever which he fancied he was suffering from . There he took a book and began to read in it about various disease in an alphabetical order . On reading about the sympotoms of various disease he became afraid that he was suffering from all the disease mentioned in the book . So the author , who had walked into the reading room a happy man , came out a decrepit wreck . The author tells in a humorous way that he felt hurt when he discovered that he was not suffering from housmaid's knee . 



        After becoming sure that he had all the diseases mentioned in the book , the author considered himself an acquisition to the medical class because the students of that class would easily find him all kinds of diseases. They would be able to get an experience of the treatment of as many diseases as they would find in a hospital . He thought that the medical students would not need to walk to the hospital for checking different patients . The writer's body , having all sorts of diseases , would offer to them a chance of getting knowledge about all types of diseases . 

        At last ,  the went to the doctor and told him the detail of his diseases . The doctor checked him thoroughly . He wrote a prescription for him . 

 Without reading the prescription , the writer went to the medical store .



 The owner of the medical store told him that those items could not be found in a chemist shop . The writer then read the prescription . The doctor had advised him to take llb beefsteak after every six hours , ten miles walk every morning , bed at  11 o'clock in the night . Moreover , he was advised by the doctor not to think about those things which were beyond his understanding . 

 The writer followed the instructions of the doctor which helped him live happily.
